As of April the 6th this year gay couples in the UK will be able to adopt children from all adoption agencies, even the Catholic. This act has raised eyebrows across the Catholic and Anglican churches, even the equality minister, Ruth Kelly is having issues with the act.
Ruth Kelly is herself a member of the Roman Catholic sect Opus Dei. She is said to be facing a choice between her career and her faith. She could be forced to resign if the government does not amend the act. Sherry Blair is also a devoted Catholic.
The Anglican archbishops of Canterbury and York insisted that ‘rights of conscience cannot be made subject to legislation’.
Gay rights campaigners believe one in ten is gay. Homosexuals who have been discriminated for centuries due to their sexual orientation should know better than most people what it feels like not to be able to live their lives openly according to their values.
I do not think the Roman Catholic Church is ‘anti-homosexual’ in the sense of believing that homosexuals are inferior in the eyes of God. Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, the Catholic leader in England and Wales, has written that ‘the Catholic Church utterly condemns all forms of unjust discrimination, violence, harassment or abuse against people who are homosexual’. At the moment we see the church not being able to live according to their values......how time and society changes....

my point is to get us all thinking that if we demand gays should have their rights, then we should aswell demand that catolics and christians should be able to have their own rights aswell,and be able to follow their values....
